Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She founded The Huffington Post and the CEO of Thrive Global. Author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an author and television host, as well as philanthropist as well as the founder and publisher of The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece she relocated to England at the age of sixteen and then completed her studies at Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. She was the first student who was not from the UK to serve as the president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. Her popularity as a conservative columnist was consolidated after she finished her degree. After the launch of The Huffington Post a few years later, she created an online voice portal that offered critiques of the state of the nation's politics. The fame she gained enabled her to get a variety of famous people to share their opinions about current affairs, political and culture. Arianna's fame started in 2003, after she became an independent candidate for the California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. Additionally, she was involved in an initiative in Detroit that promoted fuel-efficient automobiles. She was named The Most influential women in media in 2009 by Forbes in 2009, gaining the 12th spot on this list. The same year, the Guardian named her on the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she became president of this media group. The acquisition included a number of AOL properties at the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. While she was very close with her father, it was her bond with her mother that shaped her character. Through her early period, she displayed leadership skills for which are still prominently known. When she moved to England, she was 16 to continue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. As a student she was a member of the Cambridge Union's college debating societies where she eventually became its first foreign and female president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of Master in Economics. She worked as a critic television host, as well as a columnist following her graduation. She also appeared alongside Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with the editorial services of Bernard Levin.
